Plate-Electrode Earthing

IS 3043 Plate Electrode

IS 3043 recognises the plate electrode as a primary earthing method. A 600×600mm plate is buried vertically 2.5–3m deep, surrounded by alternate layers of grounding salt and charcoal to keep soil resistivity low.

GI vs Copper

GI plates are galvanised for corrosion resistance and suit most projects. Copper plates give lower long-term resistance and are specified for hospitals, data centres and substations.

Standard Sizes

GI plates in 600×600×6mm and 600×600×3mm; copper plates in 600×600×3mm, 600×600×2mm and 300×300mm — standard sizes held in Bengaluru. Non-standard sizes on enquiry.

Earthing Plates — Common Questions

What is the standard earthing plate size in Bangalore?
600×600mm is the standard. GI 600×600×3mm is used for general earthing and 600×600×6mm for heavy-duty installations. Copper 600×600×3mm is specified where copper is required, and 300×300mm for compact or supplementary electrodes.
What is the HSN code for GI and copper earthing plates?
GI earthing plates are classified under HSN 73269099 and copper earthing plates under HSN 74091900. Both attract 18% GST. The correct HSN is printed on every invoice.
Do you supply grounding salt and charcoal for the plate?
Yes. Grounding salt and charcoal backfill, GI watering pipe with funnel, chamber cover and bolt-nut sets can be supplied with the plate as a complete pit kit. WhatsApp your requirement and we'll quote the full BOM.
How deep is an earthing plate buried?
According to standard IS 3043 earthing designs, the primary earth plate is buried 2.5–3m deep. It is then packed with grounding salt and charcoal to reduce soil resistivity. Use our online BOQ builder to calculate your total pit materials.
Copper earth plate 600×600 — what does it weigh?
Plate weight depends entirely on the specified thickness of the metal. We stock standard dimensions and can confirm the exact kilograms per plate based on your BOQ. WhatsApp us your complete size requirements for accurate weights and today's live rate.
GI plate for earthing — what's the price?
Earthing plate prices move with daily steel and copper markets. We provide same-day rates rather than fixed price lists. Simply WhatsApp us your plate size, material, and delivery location in Bengaluru, and we will reply promptly.
What goes around an earthing plate?
The buried GI or copper earthing plate is packed with alternate layers of grounding salt and charcoal. This mixture helps retain moisture and keeps the surrounding soil resistivity low — always confirm the final earth resistance by measurement on site.
