IS 3043 Plate Electrode

IS 3043 recognises the plate electrode as a primary earthing method. A 600×600mm plate is buried vertically 2.5–3m deep, surrounded by alternate layers of grounding salt and charcoal to keep soil resistivity low.

GI vs Copper

GI plates are galvanised for corrosion resistance and suit most projects. Copper plates give lower long-term resistance and are specified for hospitals, data centres and substations.
